Tasks and responsibilities

As the Solutions Architect for Data Analytics Platform, you will provide technical leadership in a team of highly skilled experts working to implement information-driven strategies and systems that help agricultural scientists develop solutions for growers. You will go beyond architectural design and provide end to end implementation of real-life data environments.

Key Accountabilities

Lead the technical design of a software ecosystem for scientists in Research and Development
Develop cloud infrastructure concepts and strategies to ensure use of cutting-edge technologies while right sizing services for high performant and cost effective solutions. Drive infrastructure design delivery through Syngenta cloud team
Work closely with all stakeholders to convert business needs into pragmatic technology solutions
Ensure data on our platforms are Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR)
Designs must enable access management and secure use of data for internal, external or public use
Be an active member of engineering communities
Be an active member of agile, self-organizing, squads
Develops strong partnerships with R&D scientists in order to have full transparency and joint ownership of the technology strategy and progress towards it

Studies

Your profile

Your Experience and Skills

9+ years of experience in Big Data, data warehouse, data analytics projects, and/or any Information Management related projects
Prior experience building large scale enterprise data architectures using commercial and/or open-source Data Analytics technologies
Ability to produce client ready solution architecture, business understandable presentations and good communication skills to lead and run workshops
Strong knowledge of data manipulation languages such as Spark, Scala, Impala, Hive SQL, Apache Nifi and Kafka necessary to build and maintain complex queries, streaming and real-time data pipelines
Data modelling and architecting skills including strong foundation in data warehousing concepts, data normalisation, and dimensional data modelling such as OLAP, or data vault
Good fundamentals around security integration including Kerberos authentication, SAML and data security and privacy such as data masking and tokenisation techniques
Good knowledge in DevOps engineering using Continuous Integration/ Delivery tools
An in depth understanding of AWS Cloud solutions
Experienced in integrating into legacy systems and COTS solutions
Awareness of emerging data technologies, e.g. data quality, data catalogue, knowledge graphs, metadata and ontology management platforms

Critical Knowledge and Education

University Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
Strong customer focus, communication, teamwork and negotiation skills
In depth technical experience, ideally AWS certified
Experience implementing data first solutions
Fluency in English, additional languages beneficial
